Crawford Comes To Lou's Defense : "Piniella was so upset after learning of Schilling's remarks Tuesday afternoon on Boston radio station WEEI, he had a late- night talk with OF Carl Crawford at the team hotel after the Rays' 7-5 loss to Toronto.
``I haven't heard anybody on the team even come close to saying anything like that,'' Crawford said Wednesday. ``I think Schilling is just talking trash to stir things up. Nobody questions what Lou does around here, at least not in front of me.
``I told Lou, `I don't think anybody on the team said that. I think he is just trying to get under your skin.' ''
Still upset Wednesday, Piniella called a team meeting before the Rays' 8-2 loss against the Blue Jays. He also issued a statement in response to Schilling's remarks, which Piniella described as a ``personal attack on my character and integrity.'' "
