More than few NFL insiders think the Browns would be better off trying to pry a young, strong-armed backup quarterback away from another team -- like Rohan Davey of Super Bowl champion New England -- than devote their first-round pick to drafting a QB. Davey, 26, was NFL Europe's Offensive MVP in 2004. And he's no stranger to new Browns head coach (and former New England defensive coordinator) Romeo Crennel.

The Bills will hold a news conference today to announce they are releasing quarterback Drew Bledsoe. The Cowboys provide a very real landing possibility for the 33-year-old quarterback. -- Fort Worth Star-Telegram
The Bills conclusion was that it's time to hand the starting job to J.P. Losman, last season's first-round pick, without the sideshow of a training camp battle. Bledsoe reportedly was offered the opportunity to return to the club as a backup for a reduced salary, but he declined after a series of discussions with Mike Mularkey, who assured Bledsoe that his decision to go with Losman next fall was final. -- Rochester Democrat and Chronicle
