"Lucchino was lathered up over the notion that the team had a pipeline to their servants at the Boring Broadsheet. And was rather unhappy when his bride, Stacey, didn’t hop to when he wanted to hit the road.
But there was one of Larry’s “Seinfeld”ian set-tos that was far more fascinating than the others. It involved WEEI’s “Big Show” sultan Glenn Ordway. The topic: Theo Epstein...
Apparently, Lucchino didn’t think the Big O’s coverage of Theogate was fair and balanced. Glenn, of course, took issue with that and told Lar that if he wanted to tell the Sox brass’ side of the story, he should have picked up the phone.
After a full airing of that grievance, Lucchino and Ordway shook hands. But we don’t think that qualified as one of the traditional Festivus “Feats of Strength.”
Apres griping, we spied Ordway's boss, and party guest of honor, Julie Kahn, along with WEEI general manager Jason Wolfe, in the corner trying to smooth things over with the petulant Lucchino. Because, of course, the station is currently in negotiations with the Red Sox to hold onto their broadcast rights past the 2006 season. "
